What is the Navigator Glow Run?
The Glow Run is a healthy way to engage our students in giving back to their school. Students participate in the Glow Run on Friday, October 10. The Glow Run takes place indoors, in our Multi-Purpose Room (MPR), in the dark with blacklights, glowing neon props and T-shirts, and a lot of laughter.
How does the Glow Run Work?
The pledge period will kick-off on Wednesday, 9/17 and end on 10/12.
You must register your student.
Families can begin fundraising as soon as they receive their Glow Run information sheets in Wednesday Folders on 9/17!
With a goal of raising $40,000, students are encouraged to collect donations from friends, family, and neighbors through an online fundraising portal.
Northy, our wonderful mascot, will be running and cheering on every student during the Glow Run!
How do parents register their student(s)?
First, parents log in or sign up on 99 Pledges. Parents can then use their students’ unique generated link to share with family and friends via email, social media, etc., to collect donations.
Why are you asking for donations for the Glow Run?
Many schools in the district raise funds using fun runs and have been very successful. We hope to raise $40,000. Every dollar family, friends, and neighbors donate goes directly to the educational experience at North Elementary. These donations help pay for field trips, art supplies, performing arts supplies, PE equipment, teacher grants, classroom supplies, and many other PTA-sponsored programs.
What is the goal? How much should I give?
This year our goal is $40,000. If all students raise $50, then we would exceed our goal. Some families will be able to give more and some families less, but we appreciate any amount. Whatever the amount, every dollar adds up and gets us closer to reaching our goal!
How does my student collect donations?
Students will request donations from family, friends, and neighbors – anyone who wants to help support our school. Each donor will donate up front, not a rate per lap after the event. Parents may ask co-workers and friends, too, if they wish.
When collecting donations, what payment method is preferred?
Cash, checks, and online payments are all welcome! If collecting cash, no coins please. Checks should be made out to “North Elementary PTA” and dropped off at the front office labeled “Glow Run - Student Name, Teacher”.
Are Glow Run donations tax deductible?
All Glow Run contributions are tax deductible. A 2025 Glow Run Donation tax receipt will be electronically sent to those who make a donation. Donations made payable to North Elementary PTA by check need to be submitted in an envelope with the following information: student’s name, teacher’s name, and a parent/guardian email address. A donation receipt will be emailed to the email address provided.
Do you accept Corporate Matching?
Yes! Some companies offer Corporate Matching. If your company offers this, they would match the donation you’ve provided to the fundraiser. Click here to see if your company qualifies.
Can my student(s) participate in the Glow Run if they can’t get any donations?
Absolutely! All students will participate during their specials time on October 10th. Every student in the Glow Run receives an event T-shirt.
What if I have more than one North Navigator? Can my students combine their donations for a higher level incentive? Or can I split donations between multiple students?
No, students will have individualized fundraising links. We encourage families to fundraise together, but please understand that individual donations per student are necessary. For some students, this is an opportunity to challenge themselves, for others it might be a great way to compete with friends. Every student’s individual donation total goes toward classroom goals, their own incentives, and school-wide incentives.
What are the prizes? How can my kids win incentives?
Students are encouraged to reach or surpass their goal! The more money raised, the greater the chance that their classroom wins a prize, and that they win higher level individual prizes. To view incentive brackets, see above.
When do students receive their prizes?
Prizes are distributed to the classrooms before winter break(after the Glow Run).
What should my student wear and bring on the day of the Glow Run?
Students will be provided a Glow Run T-shirt. In addition, students should wear comfortable clothes and sturdy shoes suitable for running or walking. Think NEON! Wear bright neon colored items that will pop under blacklights. We encourage all students to bring water bottles to fill at the MPR water fountains.
Can families join and run for fun?
Due to limited space this is a student-only event. Only registered students, volunteers, and teachers are allowed. We will have a PTA-volunteered photographer on site, and images will be posted to Facebook, Instagram, and the PTA website after the event.
What happens if there is inclement weather?
The Glow Run takes place in the MPR (indoors), we can’t always predict what Texas weather will do but we don't foresee any issues.
Will students be released early that day?
No, students will be released at 2:45 PM – following normal dismissal procedures. After the Glow Run, students will return to their classrooms to continue normal school activities.
This sounds like fun, can I help?
Yes! If you are a parent or a guardian, please help your child understand how raising money helps their school. Assist your child in collecting donations too.
I might be interested in being a sponsor.
Thank you for your interest! There are various levels of sponsorship and in return, your business logo will be featured on the PTA website, PTA Facebook, and other social media outlets. Please contact us at fundraising@mynorthpta.org, if you are interested in donating.
